So originally I posted this blog when the pumpkin spice latte came out a couple weeks ago. It is a true reminder of the fall season and of course McDonalds has also launched the pumpkin spice latte as well.
McDonalds
I bought the PSL from McDonalds and they have a pumpkin spice muffin as well.
Upon first taste the McDonalds PSL is not as sweet but rather kind of bitter after taste. This is kind of expected as McDonalds lattes are naturally kind of bitter in comparison to Starbucks.
Assuming that the McDonalds I went to made the correct latte with three pumps of syrup as McDonalds generalizes their formula I'm going to say that McDonalds pumpkin spice latte was hotter in temperature but not as smooth. Furthermore, it lacked a true pumpkin smell or taste... It also has some pumpkin spice powder to it which is
I also had their pumpkin spice muffin which I completely just threw it into the garbage and didn't take a bite into because it was so hard ... Could probably break a window if I threw it but I can't judge if perhaps they served me expired product or it simply is a hard muffin so I guess my judgement on it shouldn't be taken completely.
Price wise I will hand i over to McDonalds because they are cheaper naturally and thy also have a hot beverage special with their muffins.
Starbucks
I bought the PSL and it was about drinking temperature and it was real smooth. Had a sweet taste to it and it really smelt like pumpkin spice for sure. It was slightly sweeter and i much prefer the fragrance. On the indulgence side it has whip cream and pumpkin. I like the espresso in it because you can taste the espresso but at the same time it isn't over powering.
Personally, I like the Starbucks PSL but I do recognize that McDonalds quality cannot be judged based on one McDonalds quality is not necessary the same from one to another. I curently work on the southside so I tried Millwoods McDonalds and Calgary Trail Starbucks so I do think my judgement could be bias so head out and try each one for yourself :)
